General information

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the Ministry has provided for an entry test with identical content in all locations (Ministerial Decree no. 1133 dated August 6, 2024).

The test consists of sixty questions with five answer options, from which the candidate must select only one, discarding any incorrect, arbitrary or less probable conclusions, on the following subjects: reading comprehension and knowledge acquired during studies; logical reasoning and problem-solving; biology; chemistry; physics and mathematics.

On the basis of the syllabuses in Annex A, which constitutes an integral part of Ministerial Decree no. 1133/2024, the following questions shall be prepared:

  • four (4) questions on reading comprehension and knowledge acquired during studies;
  • five (5) on logical reasoning and problem-solving;
  • twenty-three (23) on biology;
  • fifteen (15) on chemistry;
  • thirteen (13) on physics and mathematics.

Registration for the test will start on September 2, 2024, and close without exception at 3:00 p.m. (GMT+2) on September 12, 2024, according to the procedures set out in the "Test enrollment" section of this page.

The test will take place on September 17, 2024 at the Italian universities as well as at the foreign venues indicated in Table A annexed to Ministerial Decree 1133/2024, which constitutes an integral part thereof.

The number of available seats, for admission to the single-cycle master's degree program in Medicine and Surgery for A.Y. 2024/2025 is 75 for Italian citizens, citizens of the European Union and non-EU citizens treated as such and 45 for non-EU citizens living abroad.
The quotas are established by Ministerial Decree No. 1101/2024.

A single national ranking will be drawn up for the contingent of Italian citizens, EU citizens and Non-EU citizens treated as such under article 26 of Law no. 189/2002. For Non-EU candidates living abroad, the ranking list is drawn up by the University at local level.

Test enrollment

Starting from September 2 up to September 12, 2024, applicants shall register for the entry test using the procedure on the Universitaly portal (https://www.universitaly.it).

When enrolling, applicants are required to sign up on the Universitaly portal by providing their own e-mail address and to specify, in order of preference, the university venues for which they intend to apply and that they have one of the language certifications listed in Annex 3 of Ministerial Decree no. 1133/2024
These certifications, of B2 CEFR level (or higher), are a prerequisite for entry and must be produced at the time of matriculation. Certifications issued by institutions other than those listed in the aforementioned annex will not be accepted.

Applicants meeting the following alternative requirements are not required to present a certificate of proficiency in English:

  • who can provide evidence, by properly legalized attestation, that they have attended, for at least one year, a high-school (or university) whose teaching was delivered entirely in English;
  • who come from English-speaking countries;
  • who have obtained a score higher than 37 on the entry test.

If the applicant intends to take the test at an Italian venue, the first option will automatically be the venue at which the test is to be taken. These options will be irrevocable by 3:00 p.m. (GMT+2) on September 12, 2024, the closing date for registration
This process is mandatory for the purposes of holding the test, under penalty of exclusion from it. In the event that applicants intend to take the test abroad, they must also indicate a foreign location among those indicated in Table A attached to Ministerial Decree no. 1133/2024.

Payment of the test fee must be made according to the terms posted on Universitaly when registration opens. Payment not paired with the online registration confirmation does not entitle the applicant to attend the test.

Applicants who do not enroll by the deadline of 3:00 p.m. Italian time on September 12 with the aforementioned procedure and do not make the payment of the fee will not be admitted to the entry test, regardless of the supporting reasons given. To be allowed to attend the test, applicants must show up with the payment receipt.
