During the 10th International Conference of the European Transcultural Nursing Association (ETNA), recently held in Budapest, Professor Antonio Bonacaro, Associate Professor in Nursing Sciences at the Department of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Parma, was awarded the prestigious ETNA Fellowship.

The award, formally conferred during the official ceremony by Dr Elena Rousou, Vice-President of ETNA, represents an important acknowledgement of Professor Bonacaro’s academic, scientific, and professional trajectory, marked for over a decade by international engagement in education, research, and the development of educational projects.

As highlighted by Dr Rousou in her address:

“This recognition attests to the value and uniqueness of Professor Antonio Bonacaro’s international academic journey, characterised by over a decade of teaching, research, and project development, conducted with a distinct multicultural and interfaith perspective. His commitment has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of transcultural health and social care, while demonstrating exceptional dedication to ETNA’s mission and values.”

The awarding of the Fellowship acknowledges Professor Bonacaro’s significant contribution to the development of transcultural care and to the promotion of healthcare that is sensitive to cultural and religious diversity, in full alignment with ETNA’s mission to improve equity and inclusivity in health and social services on a global scale.

Professor Bonacaro commented:

“Receiving this recognition from such a prestigious association as ETNA is for me not only a great honour, but also a powerful encouragement to continue with determination my commitment to truly intercultural nursing education, grounded in the values of respect, dialogue, and compassionate care.”
