Surgical Sciences Unit

The Surgical Sciences Unit brings together expertise from general and specialized surgical disciplines, promoting an integrated approach to clinical, technological and educational research.
The main areas of expertise include:

 

  • General, oncologic, vascular, thoracic, urologic, plastic, orthopedic , maxillofacial and related anesthesiology;
  • Technological innovation: development and application of minimally invasive, laparoscopic, robot-assisted and image-guided techniques;
  • Research on biomaterials and tissue engineering, with a focus on regenerative medicine and surgical reconstruction;
  • Clinical and experimental studies on the efficacy and safety of complex surgical therapeutic approaches;
  • Experimental surgery and transplantology, with focus on transplant immunology and organ preservation;
  • Development of personalized surgery protocols, based on advanced imaging, 3D models and virtual preoperative planning;
  • Educational and training activities in surgical and technological fields, with simulation and advanced training programs.
  • Study of new organizational models of the surgical pathway , use of AI and perioperative.
