Parma, May 18, 2026 - There is time until May 31 to register for the Genomic Hackathon which will be held on June 11 and 12, in the conference room of the "Aule delle Scienze" complex at the University of Parma Science and Technology Campus.

The Challenge, aimed at professors and graduate and Ph.D. students in STEM disciplines, will be an immersive experience to design innovative genomics-based solutions from major life science fields.
The various teams composed of professors and female and male students will compete in a competitive marathon to come up with a genomics project that will be implemented in the lab.
On Thursday, June 11, after the reception of participants, seminars by AI experts in the field of genomics education will take place, followed by the Hackaton presentation and group formation. In the afternoon, the challenge will get into full swing with the development of the project proposals.
On the morning of Friday, June 12, the presentation and evaluation of the work will be held with the awarding of the winning group, which will be awarded the implementation of their project.
Genomic Hackathon is organized by professors from the second-cycle degree course in Genomic, Molecular and Industrial Biotechnologies. The initiative has been funded by the University of Parma as part of the call Premium and Innovative Teaching Development 2025.
