The Department of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Parma is promoting two continuing education programs, delivered in English, of high scientific standing, aimed at nursing staff and healthcare professionals, with the participation of distinguished international speakers.

The educational activities consist of a series of thematic workshops led by Professor Stelios Parissopoulos, faculty member at the University of West Attica (Athens, Greece), and Dr. Vanessa Vianna Cruz, postdoctoral researcher at the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).

Professor Parissopoulos’s program addresses topics of particular relevance to the development of the nursing discipline, including opportunities for international education and mobility, the sociology of health and illness—with specific reference to transcultural challenges in caring for migrant and refugee populations—as well as anthropological and ethnographic approaches to care and qualitative research methodologies.

Dr. Vianna Cruz’s series of sessions offers an in-depth perspective on the academic and international research context, with particular attention to educational pathways and the integration between training and clinical practice in nursing, as well as the development of leadership in healthcare professions and the management of complexity in clinical and organizational settings.

The overall learning objectives of these initiatives are to strengthen clinical, organizational, and research competencies, to promote an international perspective within the nursing profession, and to foster critical thinking and decision-making skills in complex care environments.

Participation is strongly recommended for faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students in Nursing and Healthcare Professions, as well as healthcare professionals working in healthcare organizations who are interested in continuing professional development.
