What we do

Main lines of research:

  • Early detection of pancreatic cancer. Signal transduction in cancer cells and identification of new therapeutic strategies for pancreatic cancer.
  • Research on gastrointestinal hormones. Evaluation of the chronic effects of synthetic and natural compounds on glucose homeostasis, appetite, and metabolic biomarkers in animal models of metabolic diseases. Study of the long-term impact of experimental drugs on metabolic profile (glucose, body weight, food intake, insulin, GLP-1) and other gastrointestinal hormones that regulate energy and glucose homeostasis. Impact of therapy on hepatic steatosis (fatty liver) and establishing in vivo safety profile.
  • Research on cannabis and cannabinoids. Discovering and characterizing novel small-molecule modulators of G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) activity belonging to the cannabinoid receptor family as therapeutic targets for the treatment of chronic metabolic diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
  • Research on exosomes. Exploring potential molecular mechanisms in the tumor microenvironment and mechanisms of drug resistance by analyzing different exosome markers using multiple state-of-the-art technologies.
