What we do
Main lines of research:
Breathing muscle function study clinic for patients with neuromuscular diseases such as patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS); asthma outpatient clinic; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and respiratory rehabilitation clinic; alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency clinic; pulmonary interstitial disease clinic; bronchiectasis clinic; smoking cessation clinic; oxygen and ventilotherapy clinic; CUP clinic.
Techniques in use: Simple and global spirometry; Cardiopulmonary Exercise Test (CPET); Bronchial bronchoprovocation test with methacholine; Exhaled gas assessment test; Test to assess inspiratory and expiratory muscle strength and thus cough effectiveness; Diagnostic test for detecting ventilatory inhomogeneity; Test for assessing small airway dysfunction; Walk test; Inhalant prick test.
Main instrumentation provided: Spirometer; plethysmograph; oscillometer; cycloergometer and treadmill; Multiple Breath Nitrogen Wash-out; Exhaled Nitric Oxide (FeNO) fraction analyzer; Dosimeter for determination of degree of bronchial hyperreactivity; Analyzer for CO; Nocturnal Saturimeter; Saturimeter for performing the gait test.
