Main Lines of Research
The main lines of research conducted in the Behavioral Psychology and Cognitive Psychophysiology laboratory involve child, adolescent and adult populations.
The laboratory integrates the activities of several research groups accumulated by the intention of recording behavioral and psychophysiological parameters in response to emotional stimulation.
The laboratory is also concerned with applying available investigative techniques to the study of the development of multimodal integration processes and their functioning in different populations as well as the validation of rehabilitation pathways aimed at restoring these processes when altered.
Finally, the laboratory is engaged in research projects interested in developing and evaluating rehabilitative pathways based on observational actions.
The above-mentioned lines of research concern the psychophysiological functioning of healthy populations and also of some pathologies (e.g. infantile cerebral palsy, Moebious Syndrome, Schizophrenic Spectrum, PTSD, degenerative syndromes of the elderly, cerebral strokes, epilepsy).
Main methodologies applied
The present laboratory uses administration of validated questionnaires and scales, conducting computer-conducted behavioral protocols, and collecting psychophysiological data (i.e, study of physiological changes as a result of experimental manipulation).
Main equipment qualifying the activity performed:
- Electromyograph
- Physiological parameter recording system (i.e, skin conductance, cardiac parameters, respiratory rate)
- Vibrotactile stimulation system
- Eye-tracker
- Environmental video recording system
- HD touch-screen
- Virtual reality
- Termocamera
